I've always viewed the Neverborn much like human ghosts. They cannot be what they were before. They've changed so much that anything they could become would be completely alien to what they know. So they don't become.

Like Homer with his arm in the vending machine, they are stuck in the gears of Creation; too big to pass through as they are. They could let go of the candy, slip free and Transcend, but they won't do that because who knows what would become of them and dammit the candy is theirs. They could accept their trapped limbs as lost and cut themselves free if that's even possible, but they won't because they don't want to face life damaged and changed and dammit the candy is theirs. So instead they try to smash the machine even knowing it will take them with it, because the stupid machine hurts and dammit, the candy is theirs!

And going by Twitter, Vance is working on the MA styles and seems to have finished Snake and Ebon Shadow enough that they've undergone internal playtesting.

Tiger style as well. It has apparently jumped from "kinda underpowered" to "downright vicious" through internal playtesting.

The only style that I don't currently have an at least semi-complete (by which I mean "fully written, but a couple Charms have blanks-to-be-filled-in) draft for is Heaven's Ladder. I'm still doing some fine tuning to get them up to date with the latest tweaks to the core system and in the process of writing Techniques, but I have got the actual writing the fucking Charms part down.

Maybe I'm wrong, The Great Demented One is free to correct me, but I just read the comment as "you can do it as a charm, or you can do it as an evocation for a particular artifact".

Not was I was trying to say. The point I was making is that Evocations aren't just buttons you mash on your artifact to activate effects X, Y, or Z.

Well I liked pro-bending. =/

clearly then we must fight with kniv nah it's cool I just enjoy the improvisational nature of bending so the more formalized stuff we saw in pro-bending matches didn't really do it for me

Aren't evocations inherent powers of artifacts? What he's talking about is clearly an inherent power of the swordsman, not his sword, so it wouldn't be apropriate to model it as a power of the sword, because that takes the agency away from the hero and puts it into his weapon, no?

An Evocation is not extrinsic to the hero.

dogg you don't want Holden to use his time-bending kung fu to drop seven years' worth of Exalted into your brain I know it sounds awesome but we did tests everyone we tried it on exploded

I am just glad that we are now having bender v. bender fights instead of the boring pro bending action scenes in season 1

One thing has me puzzled though, one of his souls is talking about the highest levels of swordsmanship, and brings up wielding weapons using nothing but willpower and Ki (i.e. telekinetically).

Is this valid design space for Solar Melee charms, or is it too "inhuman"?

This is the kind of thing where Evocations will be very helpful. ^_^

When you think about it, the Yozis are still alive because the Exalted decided that they were too big to fail.

Where in the Spiral do you suppose the Eye of Autochthon is, and what do you think the Yozis have been doing with it?

And what makes you think that whoever plucked out the Eye of Autochthon had to be a Yozi, hmm?

I want to see something like the Titanoboa in canon. Fifteen meter aquatic serpent, ahoy.

Thanks to watching Attack On Titan, I now have mental points of reference for when people use meters to describe the size of things!

The basic concept of the Twilight vampires isn't really inherently bad, and Lea once made a point about how you could actually get an interesting story out of the exploitative and co-dependent nature of the exercise being the point rather than an unintended implication.

If you want to see a game that did just that, you should check out Monsterhearts. It uses the Apocalypse World system to do supernatural teen romance angst drama and is pretty darn fun.
