I don't know much about how Kickstarter works behind the scenes, so I'd like to inquire about a couple aspects of that.

I've been given to understand that Kickstarter won't let one person have two active Kickstarter drives going at once. Is this true?

Can I Run More Than One Project At Once?
Kickstarter wrote:
We rarely permit running multiple projects at the same time, or launching a second project before fulfilling your first one. Having multiple live projects can confuse backers and split support. Running a project is a lot of work, and more than one live project will likely dilute your attention and energy. There may be exceptions out there, but that’s generally how it works. If you're a first-time creator and have multiple project ideas, we recommend selecting the one that's most developed and trying that first.

Is it possible to get everything set up for a new Kickstarter while an existing drive is running? If not, any idea what the turnaround time might be?

I have not run a Kickstarter, but I can make some educated guesses.

Once Kickstarter approves you, the primary service they appear to provide you is pretty much just hosting a simple web page and tracking backers. Preparing the markup for your frontpage, planning stretch goals, etc. is something that should be pretty easy to handle without having the project up. It may be even easier if you can prepare the page before it's actually allowed to post up publicly.

This means that for a Kickstarter veteran it is probably pretty easy to get everything set up, posting-wise, and the turnaround time is mostly up to the approval process. And not to pooh-pooh Rich's hard work or anything, but after reading the Awful Kickstarters thread on Something Awful it's hard to believe the approval process is actually that big of a barrier to any goddamn thing.

Hark's responses in the recent thread were bad. However, moving to ridiculing him and mocking him is not cool.

Elder abuse. Seriously.

Look, I'm willing to cop to being a salty internet tough guy, even if I'm far better than I was six years and three forums ago when this was the wild west. I feel some sympathy for people who don't like that. Not enough to stop entirely, but hey, you might be able to just point out an overreaction and get me to tone it down.

I am completely unapologetic about the elder abuse thing, though. Shit's hilarious. Dumbest goddamn thing I'll read this month, and it's only the 2nd. That stuff about "Magic is a simplification, Solars are about skill" = "Solars will be gimp hyoo-mahns" was also great. I like watching Jackass, too. I bring this up because I believe they are parallel situations.

I'm not saying Hark can never have good ideas again, and that any past good ideas must be stricken from the history books. But dude said some laughable stuff, so I'm not going to carry any guilt when I laugh at it.

See, you posted this thread because there was furor. There's heat to the argument. It's not much of an argument when it's mild perfect defense kerfuffle #7909. But more often than not, when there's heat on this particular subject, it's because someone said something really, really stupid, and the mockery was construed as or evolved into a real fight. I know none of the people you're making your appeal to are actually mad, so you can guess what's really going on.

What you need to do is look for real arguments and real miscommunications, and take them as they come because they start out small. By the time they're big enough for A CALL TO ACTION it's over and there's nothing to be done, because that molehill has become a mountain and you can't scale it. Dumbness has been spewed, somewhere, and everyone's stuck in it.

But this shit with Hark? I'm not budging on that. Even if he was provoked and there's a history and blah, blah, blah, he said that shit. Elder neglect. He said that. No one's taking that nugget away from me until I find a new nutshot to make me giggle.

I want to remind you a grown-ass adult (I think) has compared a drop-off in popularity for a discontinued product to elder neglect.

Someone call the Assay Office because we've struck gold.

It seems I can no longer send PMs, but I'd like to acknowledge that I get them and thank senders for their well-wishes, etc.

a Youtube Let's Play without an annoying narrator

Oh, man. I do appreciate that those guys are trying to share with us, but they need to understand that we're not watching the videos to listen to THEM.

A good Let's Play is far more enjoyable than a Walkthrough for me. It's more like watching a friend play through a game than just some mouthless demo. These can be hard to find, especially if you're just stranded in the wilderness of YouTube. That's partially remedied by The Let's Play Archive and similar sites. There are a few Majora's Mask LPs up there, though I haven't watched them. Ambisagrus and especially Maxwell Adams and his crew are both good LPers, but the HUMOROUS tag might mean there's more wackiness than you want.

Just to throw in a completely irrelevant plug for my favorites because I am such a big fan, Chip Cheezum and General Ironicus make the best LPs, with the perfect mixture of being humorous and informative.

In five years when we look around say "Why not? Let's build some Primordial rules for core 3E!" they're going to be their own thing, likely entirely unique. Even if we wanted to do something like that as a primary supplement to the game, it would be years down the line, waiting patiently behind many more important books.

If you really need what 2E gave you in this regard, it's incredibly easy to just slap big numbers on shit.

Ocarina of Time is okay. Majora's Mask is fucking awesome, but it's barely a Zelda game.

Wuxia films are full of characters who do straight up inhuman shit, and they are even considered unique and impossible monsters, yet at the same time it is all "just" a cultivation of persona skill.

Like, fucking seriously. This isn't that complicated.

People seem much more willing to consider the term "enlightenment" as being descriptive of a spectrum, whereas for some reason "magic" has this love-it-or-leave-it baggage attached to it because it is so often boxed up and categorized to death. Perhaps you should all be talking about enlightenment instead of magic?

People seem to love the rules for Stunts that exist in their heads, but the ones on paper aren't very good.

Well, yeah. That's why we changed them in the errata for 2E, and have no qualms about changing them again to make them better.

Dude. Explain why the stunt rules are a more worthy use of word count than, say, another page of Charms. Active defence - they're using word count, they need to justify their existence.

Because they are fun.

There! I'm glad I could answer your question so thoroughly. Do you have any others?

I would absolutely love to be able to talk about this, but I'm pretty sure without ALL THE CONTEXT it would burn down the internet.
