I draw your characters maybe

Edit: Project is on hold; see my posts on second page.

I have a shit-ton of new art supplies and I don't know what to draw, and one of my goals for this year is to get back into arting. Tell me about your character and I'll draw them. I reserve the right to produce shit art, work in any medium or style that I fancy, change details of your character at whim, and maybe even ultimately flake out and do nothing. Go.

And she looks like...?

Also, Castes please.

(Chejop you have no idea how tempted I am to just draw Korra and then label her with your character's name.)

Okay so this thread hasn't resulted in any art I want to finish so far but it has resulted in a resolution to by a goddamn lightbox the next time I get a paycheck so that's a plus.

That's irrelevant until I actually produce.

This has actually been really instructional. I've done about six different sketches of Chejop's character, who in my head looks like a cross between Korra, Samantha Wright, Ashol-Pan (Google her), and a genderflipped Shan Yu from Mulan, and I've hated all of them. And because I'm trying to do a piece worthy of finishing, I'm drawing on good paper, which means every time I half-finish a sketch and realize it won't do, I erase it.

If I had a lightbox I could do the initial sketches on less good paper, finish them, and learn from them as I iterate towards something useful for tracing onto good paper to make into a real piece. So. Project on hold until next week.

Whenever I do digital art I get more and more frustrated until I delete it. Switching to physical media is an attempt to do an end-run around this.

Project is on hold indefinitely while I teach myself how to draw again from scratch. If you're interested in how that's going, check out stephenleasheppard.tumblr.com where I post horrible sketch pages every day, except for this week where I'm trying to outrun Daredevil spoilers instead.

Well, I finished Daredevil, so back to spending all my free time practicing art again.

If I ever actually do any, I'll post them here, but for now the project is on indefinite hold while I re-learn to draw. I swear I used to be better at this, but likely I just used to be less self-critical.

Yeah, this went nowhere. Instead of putting time into improving my drawing, I got into painting miniatures.
